Well, envelope filters aren’t really my thing, and by that I mean that the way I play would rarely require the use of one. As for the EP-1, it does what it does and does it well. Judging by the Pigtronix website, bass players use this as much as—if not more than—guitar players. It sounds good, it doesn’t wreck your tone, and it’s versatile. Just like the other Pigtronix gear, it can be controlled by an expression pedal, which is pretty cool. $220 street price.
